Kansas City, Oral Roberts, and Western Illinois athletes were recognized in the Summit League TicketSmarter Outdoor Track and Field Peak Performer of the Week awards. The announcement was made by league officials on Tuesday.
Western Illinois' Lucas Burmeister and Oral Roberts' Abraham Sargent were honored for their performances among men. Meanwhile, WIU's Maleigha Huston and Kansas City's Jaleesa McWashington received accolades for their achievements among women.
At the Meet of Champions, freshman Lucas Burmeister achieved two top-five finishes. He won the 100-meter event with a personal-best time of 10.53 seconds and placed fourth in the 200-meter race with a time of 21.52 seconds.
Maleigha Huston earned third-place finishes in two events at the same meet. She completed the 800-meter race in 2:18.52 minutes and recorded a personal-best time of 4:40.03 minutes in the 1500-meter event.
The Summit League is also promoting its app, encouraging users to enter a promo code for reward points.
Lucas Burmeister was recognized as Men's Track Peak Performer of the Week, marking his first career outdoor weekly award after his performance at the Meet of Champions.
For Women's Track Peak Performer of the Week, Maleigha Huston was acknowledged for her achievements in mid-distance races at the Meet of Champions.
Other nominees included Logan Pratt from Kansas City and Henry Falls from Oral Roberts for men's track, while Jalessa McWashington from Kansas City was nominated for women's track.
