Western Illinois University's Colleen Johnson has been recognized for her outstanding performance in track and field. The freshman athlete achieved a personal best in the pole vault at the Iowa State Alumni Invitational, clearing a height of 12 feet, 2.5 inches. This achievement not only secured her victory in the event but also tied her for the fifth-best pole vault in the history of Western Illinois women's program.
In recognition of her accomplishment, Johnson was named the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Female Freshman Athlete of the Week. Her performance has also placed her seventh in the OVC rankings this season.
Johnson and her team, known as the Leathernecks, are preparing to compete at the OVC Outdoor Meet scheduled from Thursday to Saturday at Eastern Illinois University.
