Western Illinois women's golf finishes fourth at Coyote Creek Classic

The Western Illinois Women's Golf team secured a fourth-place finish at the Coyote Creek Classic, scoring 949 (+85). This marks their second consecutive fourth-place result after starting the season outside the top ten in their initial tournaments.

Olivia Kerr stood out by tying for fourth place with a score of 225 (+9) over the two-day event. She achieved six birdies throughout the tournament, including three in the second round. Her performance included a standout round two score of 72 (E), which was the best among all participants. Kerr was tied for first going into day two and finished inside the top five for the first time this season, maintaining her streak of finishing within the top 20 for three consecutive tournaments.

In round one, WIU recorded their best team performance with a score of 311. Mia Scrimgeour led with two birdies on the front nine, shooting a 37 (+1). Sophia Thorne contributed to this effort with a front nine score of 36 (E), including a birdie on hole nine.

During round two, Gabriela Galindo Rubio added two birdies while Olivia Kerr led with three. In round three, Sophia Thorne made two birdies and Abby Hunter added another on hole one.

The Leathernecks will take a short break before competing in their final fall tournament at The Judson in Hattiesburg, MS on October 28-29.
