City of Pittsfield City Council met Sept. 17.

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City all at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Alderman Bill Grimsley, Chris Little, Paul Lennon, Robert Ritchart, Beth White, Robert Wilson and Kevin Wombles, Alderman Kevin Ketchum was absent.
Alderwoman White moved to approve the September 3, 2024, city council minutes as amended. Alderman Little seconded the motion.

Mayor’s Announcements:
The Pike CEO Class met with Mayor Mendenhall, Economic Development Director Ed Knight, and Clerk Ann Moffit this week. The group this year is very attentive and had many questions.
The Jellystone Music Festival was held this past weekend.
A supervisor meeting was held this week to discuss ongoing projects.
We are working on a few fix or flatten properties.
We are hoping to have an assessment of the homes on Jill Street that are effected by the Honey Creek project at the next council meeting.
Alderwoman White moved to approve the August 2024 Treasurer’s Report.
Alderman Little seconded the motion.

Alderwoman White moved to accept the Zoning Committee’s recommendation to approve the variance request of Allen Motley, owner of 420 Spring Street, as requested.

Alderman Ritchart advised that the Public Safety Committee met and Chief Starman updated that Office Stamper is in week three of academy and doing very well. The Police Department continues to work on several ordinances. The 2017 Dodge Charger was sold to the Louisiana Police Department. The E-Ticket project is still on hold. There was a department meeting and CPR certifications were obtained. ALICE training and other staff training took place last week. And Clint Weir is now a certified ALICE instructor.
Alderman Little noted that the Ordinance Committee did not have a meeting this week.
Alderman Little moved to approve Resolution 2024-10 A Resolution in Support of the Historic Downtown Reconstruction Project Application for ITEP Funds.
Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the MECO Agreement for the SRTS project- Section Number 23- 00036-00-SW.

Alderman Wilson moved to approve the award of MFT project 24-00000-01-GM, the Adams and Franklin Street project in the amount of $328,623.84.

New Business:
Alderman Grimsley wished Mayor Mendenhall a Happy Birthday.
Ed Knight stated that the elevator and electrical contractors have been working and the elevator shaft should be ready for drywall soon.
Tom Reinhardt stated the east boat ramp was placed and should be finished soon. Additionally, the events at the lake were all a success of the weekend.
Mayor Mendenhall stated that we should all be better about creating positivity and maintaining positive attitudes in this day and age of such negativity, especially on social media.
Alderwoman Whtie moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:18 p.m.
