Carthage Elementary School District 317 Board of Education met Sept. 25.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The budget hearing of the Carthage E.S.D. #317 Board of Education was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Vice President Dillon Darbyshire.

Roll call: Sean Dickerson/present; Derrick Nelson/present; Stephanie Fitch/present; Jacob Murphy/present; Luke Burling/absent; Linda Housewright/absent; Dillon Darbyshire/present.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.

The proposed budget was reviewed.

There were no additional agenda items added.

There were no individuals wishing to address the board regarding the proposed budget.

It was moved by Mr. Dickerson and seconded by Mrs. Fitch to approve the proposed budget. Roll Call: Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/absent; Mrs. Housewright/absent; Mr. Darbyshire/yes; Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes. Motion carried 5-0.

It was moved by Mr. Dickerson and seconded by Mrs. Fitch to adjourn the budget hearing at 7:02 p.m. Roll Call: Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/absent; Mrs. Housewright/absent; Mr. Darbyshire/yes. Motion carried 5-0.

The regular meeting of the Carthage E.S.D. #317 Board of Education was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Vice President Dillon Darbyshire.

Administrative Reports:

Dr. Day: Had a board report included in the board packet. Dr. Day did add he has received bids that were submitted by Housewright Construction for potential projects at the middle school and primary school.

Mrs. Jacoby and Mrs. Bockenfeld had board reports included in the board packets. Mrs. Bockenfeld wanted to add to her report that Mrs. Pearson’s science classes have been taking field trips that the students have really enjoyed.

It was moved by Mr. Murphy and seconded by Mr. Dickerson to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll Call: Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/absent; Mrs. Housewright/absent; Mr. Darbyshire/yes. Motion carried 5-0.

Board Conference: The Board Conference was discussed. A follow up email will be sent to those attending.

Chair Lift at the middle school: Currently the chair lift is requiring maintenance, but due to age, some of the replacement parts are obsolete. Dr. Day will be requesting quotes to replace the existing chair lift and will report back.

New keys for the district: Requesting multiple quotes to rekey all entry doors to all buildings in the district.

It was moved by Mr. Murphy and seconded by Mr. Dickerson to approve Barbie Housewright as the IMRF representative for the Carthage CESD #317 school district. Roll Call: Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/absent; Mrs. Housewright/absent; Mr. Darbyshire/yes. Motion carried 5-0.

It was moved by Mr. Murphy and seconded by Mr. Dickerson to approve Mindy Bockenfeld on Marine, Fortress and First Banker’s Trust Bank accounts. Roll Call: Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/absent; Mrs. Housewright/absent; Mr. Darbyshire/absent. Motion carried 5-0.

It was moved by Mr. Nelson and seconded by Mr. Dickerson to enter into executive session at 7:14 p.m. for the purpose of discussing personnel. Roll Call: Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/absent; Mrs. Housewright/absent; Mr. Darbyshire/absent. Motion carried 5-0.

It was moved by Mr. Dickerson and seconded by Mr. Murphy to exit executive session at 8:02 p.m. Roll Call: Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/yes; Mrs. Housewright/yes; Mr. Darbyshire/absent. Motion carried 6-0.

It was moved by Mr. Dickerson and seconded by Mr. Nelson to hire Josh Dickman as the Head Track Coach. Roll Call: Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/yes; Mrs. Housewright/absent; Mr. Darbyshire/absent. Motion carried 6-0.

It was moved by Mrs. Fitch and seconded by Mr. Burling to approve Jade Washburn as a substitute custodian at the rate of $16.90 per hour. Roll Call: Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/yes; Mrs. Housewright/yes; Mr. Darbyshire/absent. Motion carried 6-0.

It was moved by Mr. Dickerson and seconded by Mr. Murphy to approve Heidi Carlisle as Middle School Administrative Assistant. Roll Call: Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/yes; Mrs. Housewright/absent; Mr. Darbyshire/absent. Motion carried 6-0.
