The Western Illinois University football team has announced the addition of nine recruits to its 2025 class on National Signing Day. The new recruits will enhance both offensive and defensive positions, including linemen, a tight end, wide receiver, quarterback, linebackers, a defensive back, and a defensive lineman.
Sage Yazzie from Waukee, Iowa joins as a tight end. He was an All-State Honorable Mention in high school and comes from a family with a strong basketball background at Air Force. Yazzie chose WIU for its coaching staff and environment.
Cason Carswell from Mason, Michigan is a three-star quarterback according to 247sports.com. He ranks as the No. 155 QB nationally and No. 55 player in Michigan. Carswell has achieved significant milestones including 100 career touchdowns and multiple All-State selections.
Tyler Sulsberger from Hornick, Iowa and Ryan McCombs from Jacksonville, Illinois are added to the offensive line. Sulsberger was recognized as First-Team All-District in his junior and senior years while McCombs earned several accolades including Illinois Class 5A All-State First Team.
Morgan Quiri from Tucson, Arizona is recruited as a wide receiver. Quiri was named First-Team All-Region during his junior and senior years with over 750 receiving yards in his final year of high school.
On defense, Cameron Nickel from Metamora, Illinois and Joe Edwards from Downers Grove, Illinois join as linebackers. Both have NFL connections through family members who played professionally.
Aa'Zoriyon Bonner is added as a defensive back from Sandusky, Ohio with notable performances throughout high school including leading his team in tackles during his junior year.
Charlie Stec joins the defensive line as a three-star recruit listed by 247sports.com. From Orland Park, Illinois he recorded impressive stats such as 13 sacks in his senior year.
