A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Schuyler County Sheriff's Office regarding the arrest records for the year 2024 on January 7, 2025. The request was made by West Central Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically asked for a list of all arrests from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. The requested fields included the arrestee's name, arrest date, gender, race, date of birth, and the crime committed.
As representatives of West Central Reporter, we believe that access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information to the public as a media organization, we have requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request.
