The Western Illinois Track and Field team showcased notable performances at the Fighting Illini Open in Champaign, Illinois. The event saw several athletes achieving personal bests and setting new records for the university.
Dana Surwillo was a standout performer for the Leathernecks. She achieved a vault of 3.88 meters in the women's pole vault, securing third place overall. This performance tied her for the second-highest pole vault jump in Western Illinois University Women's Indoor Track and Field program history.
Mia Harris excelled in the women's high jump, taking first place with a jump of 1.55 meters, which marked a new personal best for her.
In other events, Toriano Tate secured second place in the long jump with a leap of 7.14 meters. Rayvon Wright earned third place in the high jump with a mark of 1.95 meters.
Edward Clark set a personal record in the men's 60-meter final with a time of 6.95 seconds, earning him second place at the meet.
The Leathernecks aim to continue their success as they prepare for their next competition at the University of Iowa's Hawkeye Invitational on January 18.
