Scott County taxpayers ranked 97th in total sales taxes paid per county in October 2024, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Scott County residents paid $38,743 in sales taxes during October 2024.

Scott County ranked 95th in the Prairie State the month before, with $39,151 spent in sales taxes.

The County School Facility Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Scott County residents in October 2024.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
