The Western Illinois Track and Field team showcased notable performances at the Hawkeye Invite in Iowa City. Several athletes achieved personal bests and set new records for the university.
Edward Clark began the event with a time of 6.94 seconds in the men's 60m premier, securing third place. This time is now the fourth fastest in Western Illinois University Men's Indoor Track and Field history.
In women's events, Jolena Site ran a season-best 25.48 seconds in the 200m, while Lydia Bennett recorded a personal record of 2:22.33 in the women's 800m premier.
Caleb Brown achieved a personal best of 23.41 seconds in the men's 200m premier, and Robert Perry finished with a personal record time of 4:20.20 in the men's one-mile premier.
In field events, Garrison Murray earned third place in the men's high jump by clearing 1.90 meters. Brooke Boehm set a personal best with a jump of 1.50 meters in the women's high jump.
Cage Davidson secured third place in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.52 meters, while Rayvon Wright took second place in the men's triple jump with a personal record of 14.34 meters.
Kelsey Hutchins continued her success by finishing third in the women's triple jump with a distance of 10.90 meters.
Emma Ponx delivered an outstanding performance by setting a new personal best and school record with a vault of 3.90 meters in the women's pole vault event.
The Leathernecks aim to maintain their momentum as they prepare for their next competition at the Bob Teel Invitational at the University of Missouri on January 25.
