City of Dallas City Council met Dec. 16.

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting on December 16, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. In the absence of Mayor Kevin Six, Finance Commissioner Peggy Newberry called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Carole McDowell, Harold Northup Jr., and Greg Olson.
Others attending the meeting were Tracy Markey and Doug Erickson.
A motion was made by McDowell, and 2nd by Olson to accept the minutes of the December 2, 2024, meeting. McDowell, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE. Six ABSENT.
Tracy Markey discussed the two recent water breaks that we had in town. He reported that the city's streets employee did a very good job helping him with these water breaks.
Commissioner Newberry read a “Thank You” from the Christmas with Santa Committee for the city's recent donation.
Discussed the American Rescue Plan Act funds.
Doug Erickson discussed Phase 2 of the Sanitary Sewer Collection System Improvements Project. He reported that the Facility Plan that was originally approved in 2020 needs to be updated. He is working on this. He is also working on getting the Facility Plan completed for the proposed Lead Service Line Inventory Project.
Mr. Erickson also reported that Benton & Associates were in town recently working on the surveying that is required for the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development Grant project for the building of a walking path around the Wetlands Area.
Discussed giving Christmas bonuses to the city's employees. A motion was made by McDowell, and 2nd by Olson to give a $200 bonus to full-time employees, a $100 bonus to part-time employees, and pay the employee's share of IMRF, social security, and medicare withholding. McDowell and Newberry AYE. Olson NAY. Northup ABSTAIN. Six ABSENT.
Discussed some legal items that need to be addressed by the city attorney. Also, discussed getting three locations in town surveyed.
Discussed the city's police department and some things that the council would like to see done. Also discussed giving the police officers a raise. These things will be discussed more at the next meeting.
A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to adjourn the meeting. McDowell, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE. Six ABSENT.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:44 p.m.
