FOIA Request to Hancock County Il Clerk And Recorder Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central Reporter have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Hancock County Il Clerk And Recorder. The request is for records pertaining to the upcoming election candidates.

The information sought includes the first, middle, and last names of all candidates running in the upcoming election. Additionally, we have asked for details about the office they are running for and its jurisdiction, as well as their party affiliation.

In an effort to provide complete transparency and facilitate direct communication with these public figures, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Hancock County Il Clerk And Recorder's office and will continue our efforts in delivering timely and accurate news about local government affairs.
