The Western Illinois University football program announced the addition of six new student-athletes on National Signing Day. These players will join the Leathernecks for the upcoming fall season.
"We are excited to welcome our newest high school signees to the WIU Football Family. We purposely held on to some scholarships and roster spots knowing there would be some high-level players available as we approached the 2nd signing period," WIU coach Joe Davis stated. He emphasized, "While this group has impressive football credentials, we are most proud of the fact that the entirety of our high school class has a cumulative GPA of 3.47. We are adding excellent students to our football program! We're looking forward to celebrating this class today with our National Signing Day live event at Sports Corner at 5 pm!"
All new recruits will start their academic journey as true freshmen in the fall semester of 2025.
The new recruits include Luca Siamashvili, an offensive lineman from Hawthorn Woods, Illinois and Tblisi, Georgia, who is notable for being the first D1 football player from Georgia; Donpaul Keith, a defensive back from Taylor, Michigan known for his track achievements and All-Region recognition in football; Joel Salien, a wide receiver from Miami, Florida with a strong record in receptions and touchdowns during his high school career; Tommy Lamberti, an offensive lineman from Vernon Hills, Illinois who earned multiple honors including induction into the National Honor Society; Jamesly Jean Louis, a defensive lineman from Immokalee, Florida who participated in an all-star game; and Justin Buckner, a linebacker from Tinley Park, Illinois recognized for his athletic and academic excellence.
