Western Illinois Men's Basketball team secured a significant victory on Thursday night, defeating Southern Indiana with a score of 87-62 at Western Hall. This win ends the Leathernecks' 10-game losing streak and marks their third conference win of the season.

The game saw Western Illinois (9-17, 3-12 OVC) taking control from the start against Southern Indiana (9-16, 4-11 OVC). The Leathernecks displayed efficient shooting and strong defense throughout the match. Marko Maletic led the charge with an impressive performance, scoring 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting. He tied a program record by making his first six three-pointers without a miss. Trey Deveaux also contributed significantly with 17 points and five rebounds.

Southern Indiana struggled to keep pace with Western Illinois' offensive efficiency. Jayland Randall attempted to rally his team with 17 points, including three three-pointers, but WIU's defense was effective in forcing turnovers and limiting second-chance opportunities. By halftime, WIU had established a solid lead of 45-31.

In the second half, Western Illinois continued to dominate. Maletic maintained his role as the focal point of the offense and achieved a double-double by adding 10 rebounds to his tally. Ryan Myers added support with 13 points, while Julius Rollins contributed 12 points and three blocks. Despite Damoni Harrison's efforts for Southern Indiana, recording 21 points and 10 rebounds, it wasn't enough to challenge WIU's lead.

Overall, Western Illinois shot an impressive 56.7% from the field and made 11 three-pointers while dishing out 15 assists on their way to victory. The win is crucial for WIU as they look ahead in their conference play.
