Western Illinois achieved a narrow 4-3 victory against Murray State at Racer Field on February 23, 2025. The Leathernecks began with a strong start, scoring two runs in the first inning and extending their lead with additional runs in the third and fourth innings. Malia Robertson was instrumental, going 3-for-3 with a triple and scoring twice. Maria Luna contributed three hits, including a double and an RBI, while Kaylee Ketcherside added an RBI double.

Lillie Wools pitched a complete game for Western Illinois, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and striking out one batter. Despite facing challenges later in the game, including a solo home run by Bailey Broemmer in the fifth inning and two more runs in the sixth, Wools managed to secure the win by holding firm in the seventh inning.

Defensively, Western Illinois performed without errors, achieving 14 assists and 21 putouts. Murray State's late efforts were insufficient as they left four runners stranded on base.

This win marks Western Illinois' first of the season, bringing them to a 1-0 record while Murray State starts at 0-1.
