Western Illinois faced a challenging doubleheader against Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) at Mary Ellen McKee Stadium, resulting in two losses. The first game ended with a score of 16-5, and the second concluded at 15-4.

In the opening game, SEMO's offense was dominant, scoring 16 runs on 15 hits, including four home runs. Western Illinois initially kept the game competitive but faltered after SEMO's five-run fifth inning. Kaylee Ketcherside contributed to Western Illinois' efforts with two RBIs, and Payton Brown also added two RBIs. However, defensive difficulties hindered their ability to contain SEMO's offensive surge.

The second game followed a similar pattern as SEMO took control with an eight-run third inning. They further extended their lead by adding six runs in the fourth and one in the fifth, leading to a mercy-rule victory. Western Illinois managed five hits throughout the game but struggled defensively against SEMO's effective offense.

RyLee German provided a highlight for Western Illinois by hitting a home run early in the second game. Despite this effort, pitching challenges persisted as multiple pitchers found it difficult to manage SEMO's powerful lineup.

Western Illinois aims to recover from these setbacks as they continue seeking their first conference win of the season.
