Western Illinois University faced a challenging game against Bradley University, resulting in a 12-3 loss at Mary Ellen McKee Stadium on March 18, 2025. The Braves quickly took control of the game, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding four more in the second.

The Leathernecks struggled to contain Bradley's strong offense, conceding 12 runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Audrey Clark had a difficult start, facing only four batters before being replaced after allowing four unearned runs on three hits without recording an out. Relievers Libby Spaulding, Kaitlyn Green, and Kathryn McChristy combined efforts for five innings but allowed eight additional runs.

Despite the setback, Western Illinois managed six hits with Megan Leonard leading their offensive efforts. Leonard achieved two hits from two at-bats, including a double and two RBIs. Sophia Sanchez also contributed with an RBI, while Ruby Tarr showcased her speed with two stolen bases.

Bradley's success was bolstered by key performances from Abbott Badgley and Morgan Schlosser. Badgley excelled with two hits from two at-bats, hitting a home run and a double along with three RBIs. Schlosser added two hits and two RBIs to Bradley's tally. Ashley Breeding also made significant contributions by scoring three times for the Braves.

On the pitching side for Bradley, Sydney Kennedy maintained control throughout the five-inning game. She allowed three runs on six hits while striking out five batters and issuing just one walk.

Looking ahead, Western Illinois will seek to improve its pitching strategy as it prepares for upcoming games scheduled for March 22-23 at Tennessee Tech.
