The House Republican caucus has addressed concerns over female athletes' protection to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). On March 18, 2025, they sent a letter requesting the IHSA to clarify its plans to align with President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order. This order bans biological men from competing against biological women in sports. The IHSA has not yet provided a response to the letter.

Deputy Republican Leader Norine Hammond is advocating for changes in school sports through legislation, specifically with bill HB 1117. Hammond expressed her views with a statement emphasizing the importance of fairness and safety in sports. "On behalf of concerned parents and students across Illinois, I am sponsoring legislation to protect female athletes in school sports. Fairness and safety in sports is not a political issue and should not be up for debate. Policies protecting same-sex sports and locker rooms must align with federal policy to ensure the integrity of competition and the well-being of all student-athletes."

House Republicans are unified in their demand for a formal response from the IHSA.
