The Western Illinois University (WIU) Men's Golf team concluded their Spring season earlier this week, placing seventh at the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Championships in Macomb, Illinois. Over the course of three rounds, the team collectively shot 888, finishing 24 over par.
Leading the WIU team, Mateo Rascon performed well, tying for 18th place with a total score of two over par. His first round was notable, as he shot a three-under 69, including five birdies—three of which were on the back nine. Rascon encountered difficulty in the second round with a score of 79 but recovered in the final round with a two-under 70.
Baptiste Labeyrie and Maverick Schwabe also represented WIU in the top 30. Labeyrie finished tied for 26th at five over par, with his strongest performance in the first round, where he shot a two-under 70. Labeyrie also achieved an Eagle in the third round. Schwabe secured a 29th place finish, ending the tournament six over par, with his best performance in the first round, shooting a level-par 72.
The final scores were completed by Owen Howe, who tied for 38th place. Howe delivered the best second-round score for the team with a three-under 69.
This marks the end of the 2025 Spring season for the WIU Men's Golf team.
