4. MATTERS OF CONSIDERATION

4.1. Old Business

John Coleman stated that John Goldsmith did put up signs for the mausoleum. 4.2. New Business

The question was raised about who would clean out the mausoleum and open the door for Memorial Day activities. Hollenkamp phoned Jason Heckman, the public works director, and Jason stated that he would make sure the mausoleum was clean. Hollenkamp gave a key to the mausoleum to John Coleman and John said he would have the door open since he was attending the events that day.

It was requested by the committee to remove the oak tree at the right side of the main entrance because that tree is mostly dead or at least remove the dead branches. Also, it was mentioned that the shrubs by the mausoleum stairs need to be removed. A suggestion was made to move the small trees that were planted in 2024 because when those trees mature, they will block the line of sight for Memorial Day festivities. Further, it was suggested to then move the small trees to the area of the oak tree, if it is removed.

Lastly, the board recommended that the city fill the cracks in the asphalt throughout the cemetery.

Hollenkamp gave an update as to the 2025/2026 budget for the cemetery which includes certain monies allocated for repair and replacement of headstones. She also addressed ideas about cemetery directory and history software.

Mr. Wiegand returned after the meeting and stated that Cynthia, who is listed as a member (his wife) should not be listed. Hollenkamp said that she would ask the mayor to appoint another member since the code requires five members.
