Western Illinois University (WIU) softball team concluded its 2025 season with a Senior Day matchup against Eastern Illinois. The game, played in Macomb, Illinois, included a pregame ceremony to honor the team's seniors, marking the end of a season filled with growth and commitment.

The Leathernecks got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Cynthia Hull brought in a run with an RBI groundout, allowing pinch runner Raegan Boone to score. This followed a single to center by RyLee German. The team's offensive performance included five hits, with contributions from Kaylee Ketcherside, Payton Brown, German, Beth Pavy, and Megan Leonard.

Pitcher Kathryn McChristy started in the circle, with Kaitlyn Green and Kaelyn Walters providing relief. Walters finished the game with a spotless fifth inning, preventing any additional runs from the Panthers.

Defensively, WIU maintained a high standard with no errors and 15 putouts. Hull stood out defensively with six putouts at first base, while Pavy added three assists from second base.

Despite their efforts in defense and hitting, the Leathernecks fell to Eastern Illinois, which gained momentum through a strong offensive period in the middle innings, concluding the game with an 11-1 defeat.
