WIU Baseball faced a setback in their second game against Eastern Illinois, concluding with a 10-2 loss on Friday afternoon. The Panthers established an early lead by scoring five runs in the first inning, a gap that Western Illinois could not bridge. Two errors committed by WIU contributed to three unearned runs for Eastern Illinois.
Western Illinois managed six hits during the game, credited to players Krayton Morse, Brock Lummus, Kyree Alexander, and Wandel Campana. The Leathernecks scored their first run in the third inning when Alexander and Campana hit consecutive singles before Liam Bushey's sacrifice fly brought Alexander home.
In the eighth inning, WIU attempted a comeback by loading the bases with one out. Paul Osting earned a walk that added another run to their tally, making it 10-2. However, subsequent strikeouts and groundouts halted any further scoring opportunities.
The series' final game and regular season will take place tomorrow at 1 p.m.
