Fishing derby hosted by Rep. Hammond and Sen. Anderson returns for second year

State Representative Norine Hammond and State Senator Neil Anderson are set to host their 2nd Annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Goose Ranch, located at 25369 Goose Ranch Road in Canton.

The derby is free for children aged 12 and under, offering them an opportunity to compete for prizes. Awards will be given for the biggest fish caught, the most fish caught, and the Sportsman Award. Additionally, the first 50 children who participate will receive a complimentary rod/reel combo provided by Wildlife Forever.

Activities will begin with a water and boat safety presentation by the Illinois Conservation Police at 9:00 AM. This presentation aims to educate participants on safe practices while fishing. The fishing competition will start at 9:30 AM and conclude with an award ceremony at 11:30 AM where winners will be announced.
