The Amended Budget Hearing of the Board of Education was held on Monday evening, June 16, 2025, at 5:15 p.m. at Brown County Middle School. The meeting was called to order by President, Dawn Hughes. The meeting minutes were recorded by McKenzie Taute.

Attendance: Lan Eberle, Pollee Craven, Lisa Hannel, Kris Gallaher, Jessica Robertson, McKenzie Taute.
Eberle reviewed the proposed 2024-2025 Fiscal Year Amended Budget. Eberle discussed each fund and the difference between the tentative budget and the proposed amended budget. Eberle reported excess revenue in each fund except for Transportation, noting that an upcoming payment to the district is expected, which will increase revenue. Donation-funded expenses within the Education Fund were also discussed. Eberle mentioned building project payments in both the current and upcoming fiscal years from the Capital Projects Fund.

Building Project Update: Eberle discussed the following building project updates: • High school cafeteria tile work is complete
• Abatement work continues
• Currently preparing for the epoxy flooring in the Family & Consumer Science room
• Demolition of the former boy’s locker room continues
• Framing work in the new locker rooms has begun
• Rubber floor installation in the weight room is scheduled to be completed by 6/27 • Signage and graphics are being discussed

Mike Yingling from Yingling and Nuessen Insurance briefed the board on updates to the information provided at the 5/19 meeting. Yingling spoke about the deductible buy down premium increase, as well as keeping the current vendor for the Cyber Liability Policy. Yingling discussed the 7.40% premium increase breakdown.

Eberle mentioned trying out the new band room for future board meetings. Eberle explained that the acoustics in the library can make hearing difficult at times.

Hughes explained that there were no proposed changes to the Risk Management Plan for Fiscal Year 2026.

Hughes explained that the proposed registration date for the upcoming school year was July 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.

Hughes explained that there were no proposed fee changes for the 2025-2026 school year. Motion by Koch, seconded by Reische, to approve the Student, Food Service, and Athletic Fees for the 2025-2026 School Year.

Eberle explained that the Consolidated Plan, required by ISBE, is part of the grant writing process for funding received through the Title and IDEA grants.

Eberle informed the board that the only milk bid received for the upcoming school year was from Prairie Farms Dairy.

Mrs. Craven provided a presentation on the College and Career Readiness Program. Craven explained that while the district already has the initial pieces for the program in place, further research is needed before opting in. Craven noted the following rationale:
• Further time needed to plan and implement before committing
• Cost of implementation balanced against the potential benefits to students and families through improved postsecondary education and career outcomes
• Availability of properly licensed teachers or teachers meeting faculty credential standards for dual credit courses to instruct in the program required for the endorsement areas Craven also discussed the ability to reverse the opt-out in whole or in part at any time. Motion by Gregory, seconded by Koch, to approve opting out of the ISBE College & Career Pathway Endorsement.

Eberle explained that the 2025-2026 & 2026-2027 wrestling cooperative agreement included a $4,000 flat fee each year for participation: $2,000 for junior high and $2,000 for high school.
