City of Bushnell City Council met July 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Guest – Carol Holland was present to talk about the backpack program, they are doing the run, walk race again this year on 8/23/2025. Carol stated that they are feeding many more families now than they have in the past. There will be no T-shirts this year as they will be using all the money for food.

Treasurer

*Auditors rescheduled and will be her next week.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Ford made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

Approval of Minutes from July 7, 2025

Accept June Financial Report

Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Norton declared the motion carried

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Mayor Norton stated he has driven up and down Washington St. and stopped and talked to several people about the Washington Street Project.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Next meeting 7/31/2025 , 4:00 @ City Hall

Public Works

*Mason Havens will go to lineman’s school, with an agreement he will stay with the city for 4 years.

*West Lagoon is looking good, algae is an issue and the heavy rain doesn’t help, they will know in about 6 months if it’s functioning correctly.

*All the new street signs are up at Lake Lawn.

*Next meeting 7/28/2025 4:00 @ City Hall

Police/Liquor/ESDA

Ald. Burkholder made a motion to pass the side-by-side ordinance. Ald. Promisson seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Havens “nay”        Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Ford “aye”             Ald. Ellis “aye”

*Police Chief Hood is looking for nonprofit organizations to work the crossings for the fall festival.

*Jeff Rench with ESDA stated they are working on grants for new Storm Sirens.

*Next meeting 7/29/2025 4:30 @ Police Complex

Parks/Recreation/Real Estate

*The committee is looking into grants to help fund future Pickleball Courts

*The committee is planning to have a “Quarter Auction” to raise funds for equipment and repairs at the Rec. Center

*The cameras at the Rec. Center are capable to be hooked up to Wi-fi, so the committee members will be able to look at them on their phones.

Engineering Report

*There will be a Julie joint meeting on 7/22/2025, for the Washington Street Project, they will

Be handing out notices to all residents. A 14-day notice will be given to the 5 residents that have lead lines.

Economic Development *Next meeting 7/28/2025 4:30 @ Depot

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*City Attorney Nick Tinsman will have the amended Electric Rate Ordinance ready tomorrow.

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn
