Western Illinois University's men's soccer team lost 5-0 to Northern Illinois University on Thursday evening. The match took place as the Leathernecks tried to recover from a recent close defeat against Quincy, but Northern Illinois controlled the game from the start.
Northern Illinois scored four goals in the first half, creating a lead that Western Illinois could not overcome. The Huskies finished with 20 shots compared to five for the Leathernecks and had a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Western Illinois will attempt to regroup before their next game against Northern Kentucky, scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. in Macomb.
