Western Illinois women’s soccer falls to Green Bay in away match

Western Illinois University's women's soccer team lost 5–0 to Green Bay on Thursday evening. The match saw the Phoenix score three goals in the first half, at the 8th, 28th, and 43rd minutes, and two more in the second half at the 57th and 86th minutes.

The Leathernecks had limited chances to score, ending with three shots total, one of which was on goal. In comparison, Green Bay took 18 shots with 11 on target. Ali Matthews led Western Illinois with two shots, including one on goal. Ava Bell contributed another attempt. Goalkeeper Ariel Bernard made five saves during her time in net.

Western Illinois will look to recover as they continue their road games with a match against Purdue on Sunday. The team enters that game with a season record of 1-4.
