Western Illinois women’s golf finishes 11th at Payne Stewart Invitational

The Western Illinois University women's golf team concluded their participation in the MSU/Payne Stewart Invitational, securing 11th place with a total score of 1008 (+156). The tournament took place over multiple rounds, with the team competing against other collegiate programs.

Sophia Thorne led the Leathernecks, finishing tied for 33rd overall. Thorne completed the tournament at +18, with her best performance in round two on Monday afternoon where she shot a 74 and recorded one birdie on hole seven.

Cianna Law followed Thorne in scoring for Western Illinois, ending at +39 and placing 59th. Law also posted her lowest round in the second round with a score of 76 that included two birdies. Dina Khvastovic finished at +49 for the tournament, while Libby Larkin rounded out the team’s scoring at +50.

The team will next compete October 6th and 7th at the Windy City Classic in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
