Junior forward Xavier Gagnon has been named the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Offensive Player of the Week after a strong performance for Western Illinois University's men's soccer team. Gagnon scored twice and provided an assist, finishing with five points as Western Illinois split two home matches.
In a 3-2 win over Bradley on Wednesday, Gagnon found the net in both the 28th and 45th minutes. He also assisted on Liam Gainey's game-winning goal in the 52nd minute. Over the week, Gagnon took seven shots, five of which were on target, while playing a total of 172 minutes.
The Leathernecks are scheduled to play UIC on Thursday in an away match.
