Western Illinois University Athletics has announced a set of protocols and timelines for fans attending football games at Hanson Field. The upcoming game against Valparaiso is scheduled to start at 6:02 p.m. CST and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The schedule for the day includes several events leading up to kickoff. Tailgate lots open at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Family BBQ Day Cook-off at 2:00 p.m. The ticket office and all gates open at 4:30 p.m. Alcohol sales inside Hanson Field, as well as access to the Touchdown Terrace presented by Michelob Ultra, begin at 5:30 p.m. Senior Day recognition for WIU Football starts at 5:34 p.m., team warm-ups take place at 5:50 p.m., and kickoff is set for 6:02 p.m.

Parking arrangements specify that lots will open at 1:00 p.m. The Leatherneck Club Preferred parking area, sponsored by Toyota, is reserved for club members with season tickets who contribute at the Captain level or above; these members have assigned spots. Those contributing at the Varsity level can use preferred parking on a first-come, first-served basis. All other parking areas are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Handicap accessible parking is available on the west side of Q Lot near Western Hall.

A clear bag policy will be enforced inside Hanson Field, allowing only transparent bags not exceeding specified dimensions, one-gallon clear freezer bags, or small clutch bags under certain sizes. Exceptions are made for medically necessary items and diaper bags after inspection.

Family BBQ Day activities start at 2:00 p.m., organized by the WIU School of Agriculture and Office of Student Engagement. The event features live music, family activities, a bags tournament, and a BBQ competition with food served while supplies last. Tickets, t-shirts, and packages can be pre-ordered until September 11 at noon or purchased during the event if available.

Students have designated tailgate space in Q Lot’s east end and receive free admission with their student ID. Leatherneck Club members contributing at the All-American level have access to Touchdown Terrace in the north endzone, which offers field-level viewing along with beverages for purchase.

Rocky's Kids Club presented by Clock Tower Bank will operate from tents in Hanson Field’s southwest corner; its captain will be honored during the third quarter of the game.

Fans seeking further information can contact WIU Athletics’ main office by phone before or during home games.
