Western Illinois University's men's soccer team was defeated by IU Indy on Tuesday afternoon at Northwest Field, with a final score of 3-1.
IU Indy took an early lead in the 6th minute. Western Illinois responded in the 20th minute when Liam Gainey scored to tie the match at 1-1, continuing his streak of consecutive goals. The Jaguars regained their advantage in the 36th minute and secured their win with a third goal in the 79th minute.
The Leathernecks recorded 12 shots, six of which were on target, while IU Indy had 10 shots with seven on goal. Both teams earned seven corner kicks during the match. Goalkeeper Micah Ramirez made four saves for Western Illinois, and Declan Finnegan had five saves for IU Indy.
With this loss, Western Illinois moves to a season record of 2-6 and will play again on Sunday against Kansas City.
