The Western Illinois University Leathernecks women's soccer team will host St. Thomas on September 18 in Macomb, Illinois, before traveling to Morehead State in Kentucky for a match on September 21.

After nine games this season, the Leathernecks hold a record of 1-8-0. Their only win so far came in their opening match against St. Ambrose with a 2–0 result, followed by eight consecutive losses. The most recent defeat was an away game against Purdue.

On defense, the team will rely on Daniela Gularte to organize the back line and maintain defensive discipline during both upcoming matches. Emphasis is being placed on staying compact, communicating effectively, and limiting breakdowns to prevent counterattacks and protect goalkeeper Ariel Bernard from facing too many shots.

Freshman Abigail Schilling has emerged as one of the team's leading scorers this season with two goals. She is currently tied with Kayla Turner for the most goals scored for the Leathernecks.

St. Thomas arrives in Macomb with a 2-3-1 record and is looking for its first road victory after going winless in three away matches so far this year.

Morehead State enters Sunday's contest at home with a 2-7-0 record following a challenging nonconference schedule. Despite their results, Morehead State has shown resilience and had periods of strong play this season.
