John A. Mackenzie Alumni Soccer Field | Western Illinois University Leathernecks
Western Illinois University's women's soccer team lost 4-0 to Eastern Illinois University in an Ohio Valley Conference match on Thursday at John MacKenzie Alumni Field. The defeat marks the second consecutive conference loss for the Leathernecks.
Eastern Illinois took an early lead with Alex Tetteh scoring twice in the first half, giving the Panthers a 2-0 advantage at halftime. Tetteh added two more goals after the break, finishing with all four goals for her team.
The Leathernecks managed five shots during the match, including two on target. Kayla Turner, Elise Grant, Hana Daoudi, and Abigail Schilling each contributed attempts on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Lillian Johns made her second career start and recorded three saves over 63 minutes before being replaced by Ariel Bernard. Daniela Gularte and Hilary Halpin played the entire match as part of Western Illinois' defensive lineup.
Western Illinois will continue its conference schedule on Sunday with an away game against Tennessee Tech.
