The Western Illinois University cross country team will compete at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational this Friday, October 3. The event takes place at Burke Golf Course in Notre Dame, Indiana, and features a competitive field with several nationally ranked teams in both men's and women's divisions.
Last week, the Western Illinois men's team finished 11th in the Open 8K race. Six athletes participated for the Leathernecks. Robert Perry led the team, finishing in 16th place with a time of 25:19.5. He was followed by Logan Beckmier (26:35.8, 78th), Brody Harker (26:48.6, 87th), Evan Eberhart (27:30.6, 135th), Eason Comer (28:20.6, 166th), and Logan Rosas (29:33.1). Perry's result marked a top-20 performance for the squad.
The invitational begins at 8:50 a.m. CT and includes multiple races throughout the day:
- Women's Blue Division - 5,000 Meters at 9:30 a.m.
- Men's Blue Division - 8,000 Meters at 10:15 a.m.
- Women's Open Division - 5,000 Meters at 11:00 a.m.
- Men's Open Division - 8,000 Meters at 11:45 a.m.
- Women's Gold Division - 5,000 Meters at 12:30 p.m.
- Men's Gold Division - 8,000 Meters at 1:15 p.m.
The event is held at Burke Golf Course located at 46 Dorr Road in Notre Dame, Indiana. Parking is available north of Burke Golf Course in Dorr Road Lots (D6 South Lot on Google Maps). Admission is free to spectators; however, fans are asked not to bring dogs or drones to the venue. Due to an upcoming Notre Dame home football game on Saturday, visitors are advised to allow extra travel time for Friday's arrival.
After this meet, Western Illinois cross country will compete again later in October at Bradley.
