The Western Illinois University golf teams concluded their participation in the Windy City Classic Invitational, with the women’s team finishing in eighth place and the men’s team securing third place. The women's team posted a combined score of 692 (+116), while the men’s team finished with a score of 928 (+64).
Mateo Rascon led the men’s side, tying for second place individually with a total score of +7. His best performance was in the second round on Monday afternoon, where he shot even par. Owen Howe finished just behind Rascon, tying for tenth place with a score of +16. Julian Ortiz ended the tournament at +18, followed by Easton Korell at +26 and Bayden Hubacher at +28.
On the women’s side, Cianna Law led the team, tying for 19th place with a score of +20. Sophia Thorne tied for 23rd place at +22. Dina Khvastovic and Libby Larkin rounded out the team, placing 35th and 39th respectively.
The Leatherneck women’s golf team will compete next at the Big O Classic, scheduled for October 13th and 14th in Omaha, Nebraska.
