Western Illinois University's women's soccer team is set to play two away matches this week, facing Little Rock on October 16 and UT Martin on October 19. Both matches are scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

In their most recent outing, the Leathernecks lost 1-0 to Lindenwood at John MacKenzie Alumni Field. Lindenwood's Maddy Vasiloff scored the only goal in the 31st minute. Western Illinois goalkeeper Ariel Bernard made five saves and faced a total of 19 shots during the match.

The Leathernecks have yet to secure a win in Ohio Valley Conference play and currently sit at the bottom of the conference standings. With the season nearing its end, these upcoming away games are important opportunities for the team to finish the season on a positive note.

Freshman Abigail Schilling leads the Leathernecks in both goals and points, having played in every match so far this season. Claire Brown and Kayla Turner are tied for second on the team in goals.

Little Rock enters Thursday's game with a 5-3-5 overall record and remains unbeaten in conference play at 3-0-3. The Trojans have relied on a balanced approach that emphasizes defensive organization and quick counterattacks.

UT Martin, Western Illinois' opponent on Sunday, holds a 1-7-7 overall record and is winless in conference play at 0-3-3. The Skyhawks have struggled offensively, scoring eight goals and conceding 36 across 15 matches.
