Western Illinois University's women's soccer team was defeated 3-0 by Little Rock in an Ohio Valley Conference match on Thursday afternoon in Macomb, Illinois.
Little Rock scored all three of its goals in the first half, finding the net in the 13th, 14th, and 31st minutes. After halftime, Western Illinois improved defensively and prevented Little Rock from scoring during the final 45 minutes.
Goalkeepers Ariel Bernard and Lillian Johns combined for a total of 10 saves, with Bernard making five in the first half and Johns adding five more after entering the game. In the second half, Western Illinois limited Little Rock to nine shots, compared to 14 in the opening period.
On offense, Hana Daoudi had the team's only shot on goal. Hilary Halpin and Elise Grant also took shots for the Leathernecks. Kayla Turner received the team's only yellow card in the 18th minute.
With this result, Western Illinois' season record stands at 1-16-0 overall and 0-7-0 in conference play. The team is scheduled to play UT Martin on Sunday.
