Greenville FPD responds to 29 fires in 2016

Greenville Fire Protection District responded to 99 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the West Central Reporter.

The calls in Greenville included 29 fires - 10 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 15 other fires.

In all, the department saw $118,000 in fire loss - or about $4,069 per fire.

The department also received 70 false calls, including three malicious calls and 67 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
