Hillsboro FD responds to five fires in 2016

Hillsboro Fire Department responded to 14 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the West Central Reporter.

The calls in Hillsboro included five fires - four structure fires and one other fire.

In all, the department saw $960,000 in fire loss - or about $192,000 per fire.

The department also received nine false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian non-fire injury.

The Hillsboro Firefighter's Pension Fund, which has five active employees and three retired or inactive employees, was $61,136 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $12,227 for every fire in 2016.
