Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, September 27, 2017 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. John Eilers, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

Approval of Agenda Items

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the agenda items as presented.

Approval of Minutes

On a motion by Member Holst and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the August 28, 2017 regular meeting and closed session.

On a motion by Member Holst and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education opened the public hearing at 6:32 p.m. on the FY2018 Southeastern Community School District #337 budget.

Nay: None

Absent: None

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education closed the public hearing at 6:53 p.m. on the FY2018 Southeastern Community School District #337 budget.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the FY2018 Southeastern Community School District #337 budget as presented.

Special Recognition

Superintendent Fox named the Board Excellence accomplishments including FFA, volleyball, baseball and choir which are all posted on the district website.

Financial

On a motion by Member Holst and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the FY2017 Annual Financial Report as presented.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items

Superintendent Fox reviewed Sixth Day Enrollment which is 515 this year compared to 513 last year and 560 five years ago. The number of students attending out of district is 28 this year.

Superintendent Fox gave update on Board Policy with the 1st Reading of: 2:210 Organizational School Board Meeting, 2:260 Uniform Grievance Procedure, 4:70 Resource Conservation, 6:80 Teaching About Controversial Issues, 6:180 Extended Instructional Programs, 6:210 Instructional Materials, 6:290 Homework, 6:330

Achievement and Awards, 7:80 Release Time for Religious Instruction/Observance, 7:160 Student Appearance, 7:275 Orders to Forgo Life-Sustaining Treatment, 8:70 Accommodating Individuals with Disabilities

Action Items

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member Holst, the Board of Education approved the lead testing for drinking water in both the elementary and junior/senior high buildings by Klingner and Associates.

On a motion by Member Smith and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the employment of Chris Foster in the position of assistant high school science club sponsor for the 2017-2018

school year.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education approved the employment of Keela Whewell in the position of assistant junior high school science club sponsor for the 2017-

2018 school year.

school year.
