Report: Western spent $11,131 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Western Community Unit School District 12 is up 17 percent from five years ago, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Pike County school district spent $9,525 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $11,131 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 656 to 566.

Western's spending in 2016-17 was 14 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
