Call to Order and Roll Call:

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. John Eilers, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Agenda Items:

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the agenda items as presented.

Aye: Eilers, Holst, O’Neal, Smith, Tippey

Nay: None

Absent: Bruenger, Winters

Motion Carried

Approval of Minutes:

On a motion by Member Smith and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the April 23, 2018 regular meeting and closed session.

Aye: Holst, O’Neal, Smith, Tippey, Eilers

Nay: None

Absent: Bruenger, Winters

Public Participation

Special Recognition:

Superintendent Fox gave update on the Board Excellence 2017-2018 featured on the school website which included Illinois State Scholar, track, science club (high school level and junior high level) 3 students are competing at INTEL this week.

Superintendent Fox also mentioned the celebration held on May 8, 2018 to honor Coach Swisegood for 63 years of coaching.

Financial:

Superintendent Fox reviewed the monthly financial snapshot which shows we are 83% into the fiscal year. We have received 90% of budgeted revenue and have spent 78% of the budgeted expenditures.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items:

Superintendent Fox reminded the board of the upcoming high school graduation on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

Superintendent Fox presented the current enrollment numbers (488), one year ago (511), and five years ago (547).

Superintendent Fox reviewed the Quincy Area Vocational proposed schedule for FY19.

Superintendent Fox reviewed the tax computation sheets for the 2017 tax year.

Superintendent Fox presented the IDEA Status from ISBE for Southeastern CUSD 337 for the 2017-2018 school year as Meet Requirements.

Superintendent Fox presented the 2018-2019 Jr./Sr. high class schedule.

Principal reports were given with Mr. Kerr reporting the Class of the Year trip will be Thursday, May 17, 2018.

Action Items:

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the superintendent to advertise for bid openings for milk, bread and fuel for the 2018- 2019 school year.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education appointed the superintendent to serve as administrative representative of the Southeastern CUSD #337 to the WAPC Board of Control.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the Title I District Plan and Title I School wide Plan reflecting the ESSA updates for FY2019.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the FY2019 board meeting dates, times, and locations as presented.

n a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education approved the July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Board of Education and the Southeastern Education Association as presented.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the employment of Kraig Haukapp in the position of 5/6 grade boys basketball head coach for the 2018-2019 school year.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:32 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity and student disciplinary cases.

Adjournment:
