Brown County Fire Protection District responded to 18 calls in 2017 - 125 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Brown County included 18 fires - five structure fires, two vehicle fires and 11 other fires.

In all, the department saw $133,000 in fire loss - or about $7,389 per fire.
