Carthage Fire Department responded to 16 calls in 2017 - 166.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Carthage included 10 fires - two structure fires, one vehicle fire and seven other fires.

The department also received six false calls.
