Hamilton Community Consolidated School District 328 students suspended 60 times in a single school year

Hamilton Community Consolidated School District 328 reported 60 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 60 students during the year. That equates to 8.4 percent of the 716 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 14 incidents. For 12 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 46 out-of-school suspensions, including 28 elementary or middle schoolers and 17 high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for drugs. The category includes 14 incidents. There were 11 incidents of unspecified reasons. For 23 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
