City of Pittsfield City Council met April 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was held at the City Council room at 215 North Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor John Hayden, City Clerk Cindy Prentice, and Aldermen Kevin Ketchum, Ed Knight, Paul Lennon, Bill Scheiwe, Robert Wilson and Robert Wood.

Absent: Aldermen Robert Ritchart and Kevin Wombles.

Mayor Hayden presided.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the minutes of the last regular Council meeting.

Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Ketchum, Knight, Lennon, Wilson, Wood (5)

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the Treasurer’s Monthly Report for the month of March 2019.

Alderman Knight seconded the motion.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve Ordinance No. 1631, An Ordinance Amending Operation of Neighborhood Fuel-Powered and Electric Vehicles Section 81.01(2) of the Traffic Code of the Municipal Code of Ordinances for the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, on its first reading.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Nay: None (0)

Present: Scheiwe (1)

The motion carried.

Alderman Wood moved to suspend the rules and have the second reading of Ordinance No. 1631 (described above) by title only.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Alderman Wood moved to approve Ordinance No. 1631, An Ordinance Amending Operation of Neighborhood Fuel-Powered and Electric Vehicles Section 81.01(2) of the Traffic Code of the Municipal Code of Ordinances for the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, on its second reading by title only.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

City Clerk Cindy Prentice read a proclamation proclaiming Friday, April 26, 2019 as Arbor Day.

Alderman Wood moved to accept the resignation of Economic Development Director Megan Newman effective May 30, 2019.

Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Alderman Ketchum moved to advertise for summer help.

Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the Finance Committee Report and the Clerk be directed to issue the claims thereon.

MECO Engineer Max Middendorf reported the pre-construction meeting for the South Madison/South Monroe Street alley improvements with D&L Excavation will be Monday, April 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.

Mayor Hayden reminded the Council of the Corridor 54 meeting at the Farm Bureau April 25, 2019 at 10:00 p.m.

Alderman Knight reported a Finance Committee meeting has been set for April 23, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss budget, mapping, gas rates and IT.

Alderman Ketchum reported approximately one hundred people attended the trout event at King Park. He thanked all sponsors and the people behind the scenes for helping make it a success.

Mayor Hayden presented Alderman Bill Scheiwe with a plaque honoring him for his sixteen years of service to the City of Pittsfield City Council. He stated the City has not had a more dedicated alderman than Alderman Scheiwe and thanked him for the work he has done to keep natural gas prices down.

Alderman Knight moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:12 p.m.
