There was one offender released on parole during 2018 that lives in New Salem zip code 62357, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by West Central Reporter.

The data shows that the released offender was Gary Coleman. He was convicted of a financial crime or fraud in 2018, when he was 29. He is now 30.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
