McDonough County Board met July 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The monthly meeting of the McDonough County Board was held at the McDonough County Courthouse at 7:00 p.m. roll call resulted in 19 present and 2 absent. Sheriff Nick Petitgout made the opening declaration.

Chairman Dixon led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Board Member McGrew moved with second by Board Member Aurelio to approve the minutes of June 19, 2019. Motion carried on a voice vote. Board Member McGrew moved with a second by Board Member Mahr to approve July 2, 2019 Special Meeting Minutes. Motion carried on a voice vote.

The report from Public Defender, Nigel Graham for the month of June 2019 was received and filed.

The report of Sales Tax collected in April 2019 was received and filed.

The report of Balances and Investments from County Treasurer Graves for the month of June 2019 was received and filed.

The report of Circuit Clerk Wilson for the month of June 2019 was received and filed.

The report from County Clerk DeJaynes on Warrants Issued in Vacation for the month of June 2019 was received and filed.

The Transfer of Appropriations of Monies was referred to the Finance Committee. Transfer from Insurance Clearing of $250,000 to Mutual Medical and $100,000 IMRF to Liability Insurance to pay off loan. Board Member Mahr moved to approve with a second by Board Member Aurelio. Motion carried on a roll call vote 19 yeas and 2 absent as Exhibit 7A.

Board Member Aurelio moved to approve the report of the Finance Committee as read with second by Board Member Mahr. Motion carried with a roll call vote of 19 yeas and 2 absent as Exhibit 8A.

Board Member Schwerer moved with second by Board Member Nissen seconding to dispense with the reading of the claims report and to approve it as approved by the Claims committee. Motion carried with a roll call vote of 19 yeas and 2 absent as Exhibit 9A.

No motion, voice vote held.

Board Member McGrew moved with second by Board Member Cortelyou to approve the appointment of Jeff Rench to the ETSB Board as Mutual Aid Representative. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Board Member Mahr moved with second by Board Member Melvin to approve Resolution for Tax Deed 15-000-186-00 on a roll call vote. Motion carried on 19 yeas and 2 absent as Exhibit 12A.

Board Member McGrew moved with a second by Board Member Cortelyou to approve Resolution for Tax Deed 03-000-963-05. Motion carried on 19 yeas and 2 absent as Exhibit 13 A.

Board Member Toland moved with second by Vice Chair Cox moved to approve Certification County Aid Bridge Project 1953-24. Motion carried on voice vote. Exhibit 14A.

Kim Pierce, Executive Director of MAEDCO informed the Board of items that her office has been working on.

Finance Committee Chairman Hiel explained to the Board where the funds for the first payment on Law suit Case 2006-L-9 came from and that Finance Committee wants to issue a Bond to pay balance of Law suit and replace funds used for first payment. Road & Bridge Chairman Toland informed the Board that Chipping and Sealing has started with in the County.

OTHER

Chairman Dixon informed the Board of a Conference on August 1 in Springfield, IL dealing with Cannabis and the County. Thanked Board members whom helped with the Employee Luncheon. The first payment on Law suit Case 2016-L-9 was mailed and Insurance Co. would be mailing out the payment along with $565,406.00 in interest. With no further business to discuss the meeting adjourned at 7:46 pm. Sheriff Petitgout gave the closing declaration.
