Macomb Community Unit School District 185 Board of Education met Dec. 31.

Board President Jill Myers called the meeting to order at 12:33 p.m. in Team Room A of the District Administrative Service Center. Members present were: Kapale, Gray, Adams, and Myers. Members Torrance, Thompson, and La Prad were absent.
Member Adams moved, and member Gray seconded, to approve Fire & Life Safety amendment no. 42 in the amount of $8400.00 for expansion of the intercom system at Macomb Jr./Sr. High School. Dr. Twomey explained the main purpose of the project is to extend the intercom system into the auditorium and surrounding area, as well as into the office area. Members voting “yes”: Kapale, Gray, Adams, and Myers. Members voting “no”: none. Motion carried.
At 12:35 p.m., member Adams moved, and member Gray seconded, to hold a closed meeting for the purpose of discussing the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), collective negotiating matters, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2), the purchase or lease of real property, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(5), student discipline, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9), and pending or imminent litigation, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11). Members voting “yes”: Kapale, Gray, Adams, and Myers. Members voting “no”: none. Motion carried.
The Board returned to open session at 1:05 p.m.
Member Adams moved, and member Gray seconded, to grant the superintendent the authority to extend the approved Education Fund budget up to an amount not to exceed $300,000, and to amend the 2019- 2020 District budget accordingly on or before June 30, 2020. Members voting “yes”: Kapale, Gray, Adams, and Myers. Members voting “no”: none. Motion carried.
At 1:06 p.m., member Adams moved, and member Myers seconded, to adjourn. Motion carried by voice vote.
