City of Bushnell City Council met Jan. 20.

Consent Agenda
Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the consent agenda, which included the following items:
1. Approval of Minutes from January 6, 2020
2. Accept December Financial Report.

Ad Hoc (Mayor’s Report)
1. Mayor Wilt stated that City Clerk Teresa Ebbert would be taking over the payroll taxes, which are currently being done by the bank.
2. Mayor Wilt stated that the city has received a grant for $500,000, which will be used for the Deep Well project.
3. Mayor Wilt and City Clerk Ebbert met with Kenneth Young from the Census. City Clerk Ebbert will be the point person for this project. Mayor Wilt urges everyone to go online and do the Census. For every person the city gets $1500 for 10 years. The Census is also hiring people to help starting at $17.50 an hour.
4. Mayor Wilt stated that Everbridge was here and did some training. She urges everyone to Sign up.
5. Mayor Wilt will be going to the Rural Community Economic Development Conference in Springfield on the 26th and 27th of February.
Personnel/Finance/Budget
*Next meeting will be Thursday January 30th at 5:00.
Public Works-Street/Sewer/Alley
*Next meeting will be Monday, January 27 at 5:00 to discuss the deep well project.
*Ald. Norton thanked the street department for getting the slush off the streets before It froze. Mayor Wilt also thanked the power plant employees for getting the power back on so quickly.

*Mayor Wilt recognized The Big Brother/Big Sister organization for National Mentoring Month. Haley Waller was in attendance with her Little Aaralyn. Mayor Wilt then read a proclamation stating this was Mentoring Month in Bushnell. Thank you to all the Big Brothers and Sisters.
Police/Liquor
*Ald. Lorton recommends that we hire Daniel Barth as a full-time police officer before March 1.
Ald. Glisan made a motion to hire Daniel Barth as a full-time police officer with a start date before March 1. Ald. Allen seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

MAEDCO
*Director Kim Pierce stated they had the 1st Quarter Enterprise Board meeting.
*Pierce stated they are working on 4 major retail projects in Macomb. And there is Some interest in the Kitchen cook location.
*The Ceo students are putting on an Escape Room starting in February which will Be held in Macomb. Pierce stated they have 9 students for next year’s CEO class.
Engineering
*Eric Moe from IMEG stated we need to decide whether we want to apply for the next CBDG grants deadline is July 30.
*Mr. Moe also urged us to apply for new housing rehabilitation grants.
*Mr. Moe stated we need to get a resolution done for spending $76,000 from MFT to do the oil & chipping this summer.

Contracts
*Ald. Glisan stated that Area Disposal was drawing up a contract; we will review it and move Forward.
*Next meeting January 29th at 3:00 to look at uniforms contract and pest control contract.
Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions
*City Attorney Chuck Laegeler stated that he will have the contract ready next meeting for the American Tower Lease.
*Laegeler stated that he is working on some Ordinance Violations that will be going to court soon.
